Update: we’ve reached our goal and then some, thank you! We are saving the extra funds for additional supplies, and the potential to publish a zine if the students want that. I volunteer to teach poetry at the prison. I like to give new students a fancy notebook, because it lets them know right away that I take their poems seriously. I’m raising money to buy each incarcerated student a notebook. Each notebook costs $25.
Our goal is $500, which would purchase 20 notebooks. If we exceed our goal, we will also purchase fancy (prison regulation appropriate) pens, and/or more notebooks to keep on hand for future students.
