Do you know Jason Bayani? You should! He’s a dope spoken word poet, now living in Texas, who just released a new book Amulet. He did some direct sales last week, and had a Slow Jam Haiku Contest for kicks to go along. Of course anyone who knows me knows that I take haiku requests seriously, so I penned a few drafts and sent Jason this submission:

Six artists from Juneau are among the recipients of the Rasmuson Foundation’s 2013 Individual Artist Awards, announced Wednesday in Anchorage.

Zach Gordon Youth Center will offer four, free spoken word workshops over the next two weeks for youth ages 9-21. The workshops, taught by local artist Christy NaMee Eriksen, will focus on creative writing, performance, and diversity.
