Big news! I’m re-opening the currently closed downtown contract post office and turning it into KINDRED POST - a post office, gift shop, and gathering space! Perhaps similar to the way that libraries have evolved to be a community space for learning, I want my post office to be an evolved community space for *gathering*. The shop will specialize in modern classics from independent artists and will host events to bring people together (e.g. creative workshops, poetry readings, First Friday Photo Booths and, um, Breakfast Book Club anyone??)! And -as the daughter of a retired postmaster (my dad put in 35+ years of service!) - I’m committed to real life letters yo. Come buy stamps!
This will be my creative clubhouse for all my favorite values. Creativity; being our best selves and neighbors through being inspired, embracing potential, trying new things, and building together! Storytelling, listening, and strength in our diversity of experiences. Community, connection, social justice. The hustle. The joy!
Thanks to the Juneau Empire and KTOO for publishing stories about my business [ad]venture!
SO honored to be this year’s featured writer! Come on out to UAS on Friday for the launch to hear some poems and grill me on all your favorite questions.
Christy NaMee Eriksen is throwing a release party tonight for her new album, which will include live music and performance.
I love that Scott Burton did a KTOO story focused on my roots and thoughts on Korean adoption. It was like he drew my portrait…with radio!
If you have a few minutes and want to hear about how my identity influences my work and listen to some samples from the album, catch a listen! Kamsahamnida Scott and KTOO.
For Juneau spoken word artist Christy NaMee Eriksen, there is an immediacy in her words. She takes them out of the nest, folds them up, and then releases them.
Thank you to the Juneau Empire for this sweet write-up on the album, the launch party, and my work! Kamsahamnida!
It’s here! It’s here! I’ll be releasing my first spoken word album, HOW TO TELL IF A KOREAN WOMAN LOVES YOU, on 4/4/14! More details soon re: how to buy online, digital downloads, etc, but for now mark your calendars for the ALBUM LAUNCH PARTY in Juneau at the Hangar Ballroom!
UPDATE: Album available for pre-order HERE.
There are some amazing adoptee women from all walks of life who are making an impact in the adoption community and beyond. Here are some of the Asian adoptees who are blazing trails.
Thanks for the shout-out on Buzzfeed! Humbled to be on this list with some other amazing artists. Can’t wait to check out and follow all of their work!
