  • Home Poetry Workshop

    Na Mee brings the poetry workshop experience to your home! Poetry can deepen our relationship with ourselves and each other. Invite your friends and try easy and enjoyable poetry practices together. This is a great way to try something new and get the benefits of poetry with the people you love. No prior writing experience necessary. Na Mee will work with you to pick the right themes, practices, and prompts suitable for your group.

  • Poetry as Mindfulness

    Na Mee can lead a Poetry as Mindfulness session with your team that allows for an artistic "break" from the agenda. Poetry has the power to connect us with ourselves, each other, and the world. Na Mee can guide your team through exercises intended to build a strong, mindful, and kind relationships with themselves and beyond. This workshop can be adapted to fit other goals, too; Na Mee is happy to build the workshop that would be most effective for your group. This is an interactive practice suitable for poets and non-poets of all writing experience.

  • Home School Guest Teacher (6-8 Week Sessions)

    Want to add a unit on poetry or spoken word poetry to your home school curriculum? Spoken word poetry is a powerful way for students to discover their unique voices through writing, performing, and listening. Na Mee brings over 13 years of poetry teaching experience into classrooms of all sizes and types. Through a series of 6-8 lessons, students will drawn on their own identities and experiences to explore poetic devices and performance techniques. By practicing and sharing in a supportive space (culminating in an optional showcase), they build a strong classroom community. Na Mee hopes to give students the tools to amplify their voices on and off the stage.

    These sessions take place in your home and/or at select locations around Juneau. They are most effective with a group of students and a great opportunity to bring multiple home school families together.

  • Group Portrait Poem

    Invite Na Mee to your organization as a Resident Poet! Attending key meetings and organization gatherings alongside staff, she will engage in deep listening, observation, and word collecting. Then, she will compose a group portrait poem - a Found poem using phrases that represent the spirit of the organization. She will perform the final poem live at a gathering of your choice. The portrait aims to reflect back the participants, synthesize organization values, and inspire the group's next steps. A final copy of the poem is also provided.

  • Creative Facilitation

    Na Mee's work as a poet and a teaching artist has taught her to use creative practices for all kinds of learning and mindful listening. Embodied, accessible, participatory practices activate us in ways that powerpoints and dialogue alone might not. Na Mee can co-create a session with your organization to meet many agenda goals through creative art teaching techniques. Some example sessions she has facilitated before include envisioning future work, examining our roles in racial justice, de-briefing collective experiences, and more. What are your goals?
