Event Offerings

  • Group Portrait Poem

Invite Na Mee to your event as the Resident Poet! Attending alongside participants, she will engage in deep listening, observation, and word collecting. Then, she will compose a group portrait poem - a Found poem using phrases that represent the spirit, themes, and takeaways of the event. She will perform the final poem live at a gathering near the end. The portrait aims to reflect back the participants, synthesize the gathering, and inspire the group's next steps. A final copy of the poem is also provided.

  • Live Reading / Performance

With roots in spoken word poetry, Na Mee welcomes the opportunity to be in community with live audiences. Readings and performances vary in size and length, and she would be happy to find a size that fits your event, whether it's one poem or an hour. Q&A or other options can also be included.

  • A Poetry Break

Na Mee can lead a Poetry as Mindfulness session that allows for an artistic "break" from the agenda. Poetry has the power to connect us with ourselves, each other, and the world. Na Mee can guide participants through exercises intended to build a strong, mindful, and kind relationships with themselves and beyond. This workshop can be adapted to fit other goals, too; Na Mee is happy to build the workshop that would be most effective for your event. This is an interactive practice suitable for poets and non-poets of all writing experience. Description goes here

  • Wish Stand (live custom poems)

Na Mee draws on her Haiku Stand days (link) to bring live custom poetry to your event. Add a Wish Stand to any reception, break time, curated art event experiences, etc. A participant gives Na Mee a prompt, and she writes them a wish on her typewriter. If they have an extra moment, their wish can be finished with a wax seal.

  • Creative Facilitation

Na Mee's work as a poet and a teaching artist has taught her to use creative practices for all kinds of learning and mindful listening. Embodied, accessible, participatory practices activate us in ways that powerpoints and dialogue alone might not. Na Mee can co-create a session for your event to meet many agenda goals through creative art teaching techniques. Some example sessions she has facilitated before include envisioning future work, examining our roles in racial justice, de-briefing collective experiences, and more. What are your goals?
